Biggest farce on earth - Khel.com Interactive Games
16th Nov 1999 VLS Finance Ltd. @md3.vsnl.net.in
Dear Friends: We should find a way to boycott websites that entice visitors by offering games with big prizes during big events and attract advertisement revenue thru the traffic that we provide and then fail to deliver the prizes. our family actively participated in the Quiz and other contests conducted by Khel Interactives (http://www.khel.com) alongwith BPCL and won quite a few prizes at the time of World Cup cricket. Now it is 5 months since the World Cup got over and NOT EVEN ONE PRIZE HAS BEEN DELIVERED BY THEM TO US. WE WON ATLEAST 6 PRIZES INCLUDING A KODAK KB10 CAMERA. When I spoke to Mr. William at Khel he told me that they are not responsible for the prizes and they only carried their contests in their website in collaboration with BPCL and he cannot attend to all the mails since he receives mails from ITC, Hindustan Lever etc. and he receives more than 1000 mails a week. If we are not supporting these websites with out patronage can he get even one mail from ITC? They must have used our traffic to even project as though they have a big subscriber base and demanded premiums in share placements but nothing called customer service it seems. I do not if other big prize winners got their prizes - they even had few Desktop computers announced for the winners. I pity the winners. Regards R. Sathyamurthy Thanks & Very Best Regards Sathya

Dear Sathya, > We should find a way to boycott websites that entice visitors by > offering > games with big prizes during big events and attract advertisement > revenue thru the traffic that we provide and then fail to deliver the > prizes. I completely agree with you - these schemes give internet promotions a bad name, so it is in the interest of all honest internet businesses to work towards putting a stop to such scams. This can be done by putting together a fact file (supported with documentary evidence) and then broadcasting it using the various electronic and other media available. Computer magazines, general interest magazines, newspapers and consumer rights organizations will be interested in this kind of information. I would be happy to assist anybody with putting together a fact file, contact me privately. > When I spoke to Mr. William at Khel he told me that they are not > responsible > for the prizes and they only carried their contests in their website in As I understand it, the web site which hosts the contest (and therefore benefits from it) is liable under law to see that the prises are delivered.
