India Today gift offers during subscription

India Today for some time now offering some gift or the other while offering subscriptions. About 6 monthes ago, they were offering a set of 3 Music Today Casettes along with a one year subscription. Although the magazine started coming ( subscription no.10ITE292732 08- 11-99 44cps 1), the gift never arrived. After the lead time the magazine had indicated was over, I got in touch with the mgazine by post, fax and e mail. Only one e mail was acknowledged and that to say that the gift would be sent " shortly" Since then some more time ha elapsed and my reminde to their e mail that the gift would be sent " shortly" too has not been acknowledged.I am writing to publicly highlight the poor customer services that the India Today group has so that others on this mailing list be made aware.

I have similar experience with India Today Group.I applied fr a 120 issue subscription to Business Today.They have sent me 2 issues and then stopped.The promised gift has not come.I asked fr the receipt but they have not sent it even after so many letters,emails etc.When I wanted them to indicate the status of subscription,they gave a vague reply. This is not expected from a group like India Today group. We need to take up the matter.For all we know,they may not read this msg. Regards V SRinivasa Murthy Hyderabad

I am glad to have company in this unethical way the India Today group is soliciting subscriptions. I have subscribed for both-for Business India they offered an audio set but their Calcutta Office says it is now going to be changed to bags!!! I sent them e-mails which were returned. Then I went on to their web page and then sent them my cancellations of subscription with request to return my money for the unexpired p[ortion of my subscriptions. I am awaiting their reply. I had similar experience with OUTLOOK magazine when it first came out. No gifts were sent. I cancelled my subscription but I got my money back after repeated reminders. I should indeed be very wary about such offers originating from Delhi!!! D. Haldar

The same is the case with OUTLOOK / Intelligent Investor.
They had a scheme of 3 free issues, after which they process your
regular subscription, if not cancelled within those 3 free issues.
However, they do not acknowledge the cancellations and mostly process the
regular subscription automatically on expiry of the 3 free issue period.
Then if you persist, they cancel the same after very long, taking over
months.
