Indian farmers are the highest taxpayers! They pay about 86% turnover tax. If you do not believe, kindly read on. Sharad Joshi, leader of farmers organization Shetkari Sanghatana, has released this information in the concluding session of Agro-Advantage, arranged by Govt. of Maharashtra, in presence of Chief Minister, Manohar Joshi. Sharad Joshi was Chief Guest at this 3 day long event organized by Govt. of Maharashtra. He has also claimed that on the basis of papers submitted to GATT, by Pronob Mukharjee's ministry during Rao's regime, It was clear that the government was responsible for a negative subsidy to the tune of 72% to the farmers, ie robbing off Rs.72 of every 100 Rs the farmer was supposed to get in the market. He blames socialistic programmes advocated by Dr. Mahalnobis school and persued by Nehru and his dynesty for this plunder and thinks, things could have been different, had we not fallen for Nehru's Jaadoo. Sharad joshi, quoting figures (from Ministry of commerce, Government of India papers submitted to WTO), said that unless this plunder stops, such attempts would prove futile, as in past. refer: Times of India News item :Dt 10th Nov. 98. also visit: Sharad Joshi site: http://my.123india.com/sharadjoshi and Farmers for Freedom site: http://come.to/farmers Thanks.
