Hi, Just a query, What are the custom rules to bring laptop from overseas. I have heard, according to new rules, laptop is considered a personal thing like camera, watch and mobile phone. Anyone has clear information in this regard. I will appreciate any info on this. Thanx lot neeraj

Hi Neeraj, no custom rules required.......ofcourse I assume you will bring in only one Laptop and not a number that could raise suspision...............just walk into the Security Check along with the LapTop and declare it as a cabin baggage. At least I have not faced any issues till date. Hi Jayanta, thanx lot. Yes, I am bringing just one. Did you buy your laptop overseas and brought it to india? Does that mean, one laptop with baggage is duty free item? rgds neeraj

I dont think it is that simple - if you are lucky you can walk away without any hassles but recently I had taken my Laptop on my tour to USA and fortunately I had taken a customs Cert. while going because when I landed at B'bay the customs officer insisted on seeing that cert. otherwise he would have levied customs duty on that. I think it is matter of luck. Regards
