from Calcutta, preferably in South Cal. near New Alipore area. I shall be

The list of HAMs internationally can be looked up from the below website:

Just enter "Calcutta" in the search field. I got about 178 records for that
query. As for S Calcutta, I guess you will have to figure that out with PIN
codes. Cross reference this list with the telephone directory, and you
should have some names to contact.

There are a lot of Ham operating form Cal. VU2AP Amal Da is one of the ham
operates regularly on HF u can hear him on 7060 USB every morning , many
are available every morning on VHF. on 144.500 MHZ. Suorjit is operating

Two pointers:
You should be able to get contacts of Ham operators from Birla
Industrial and Technological Museum, Gurusaday Road.
Also, The Telegraph had reported about a group of Ham operators who
were doing very good work in Orissa after the cyclone. They had
established a base in Mandevilles Gardens, Gariahat. It was reported in
the "metro" supplement I think - you could try asking The Telegraph.

You can check out with Surojit Dey VU2 SKD
he can tell you more about the Calcutta HAM club.
Also check out Joy Saha VU2 JSH but he is not from south cal and he is
normally with his rig around 6 p.m. for evening qth
