Email service

30th Aug 1999      Neena P. Kumtakar @asc.ltindia.com

I am interested in using the internet mainly for sending & receiving
email. Based on your experience, which ISP offers the best
service.Alternately
does any ISP offer only an email service at a substantially lower rate?

Thanks & Regards
Neena

Hi Neena,

Many corporates and individuals are accessing their email through NON-ISP
email service providers. These services are able to offer various USPs:-
1) Access to phone lines is almost always instantaneous.
2) You get a unified inbox - with email, voicemail and fax
3) Corporates get a multi-user email accounts which does not require phone lines to access email
4) You can use a domain other than the ISP's

Perhaps you can contact such service providers and see if it suits you
better.

Thank you!

Regards,
Niel Hirjee

Another consideration is whether you want pop or web.

pop allows the downloading of mail to your machine while web mail allows
for storage of your mail on the www. However, it does allow you to download
your mail but the archiving is an issue. Plus, in some cases, to send mail,
you need to log on and reading mail in the case of web based services is on
line.

With pop, you download mail and read it at your leasure.
