28th July 1999      Mr. S.K.Ray @iocrnd.stpn.soft.net

Dear innmates !
Please help if you can .

My friend wants to send me e-mail in hindi , how I cam read that? I have
Microsift outlook only. Also is it possible to send e-mail in hindi
using MS WORD . Where to get free Hindi font. Do I need a seperate key
board for that?

Thanks
Sanjay

There is no standard font for Hindi but several newspapers and magazines
e.g. Jagran, Sarits, Milap and Naidunia use their own fonts and you can
use them to write your own messages by making a list of character via
character map program. It is pity that they can agree on one common
font.

However, I have found a commercial font very intuitive and use it to
prepare a font using MS Word or any text editor once the font is
installed on your system.

Hi Sanjay,

A software called iLEAP (made by the CDAC, Government of India) integrates
with Outlook to let you send and receive internet email in Indian
languages. This software even lets you send Indian language email to
people who do not have Indian language fonts installed on their computers.

The eastern India distributor for this software is Mr. Nikhil Bhagat of
Comp-U-Graphics, [email protected] - he gives demo copies of the
software for evaluation. This software can be ordered via ecommerce
through calArcade at http://www.indiax.com/cal/arcade

Thank you!

Regards,
Niel Hirjee

I did not recommend it because quite often the transliteration is not
correct and you have to visit and you cannot create message offline.

Random thought of the day:
While you don't greatly need the outside world, it's very reassuring to
know that it's still there.
