VSNL cuts off Kashmir in its Advert Map
7th May 1999 vikram@kshitij.com
VSNL has been running a large Advertisement in major newspapers about reduced ISD rates and other services. The ad shows a world map, with India specially outlined. This map, unfortunately, has a part of Kashmir (the part beyond the Line of Actual Control) missing. VSNL should immediately withdraw the Ad and reinsert it after making the necessary change in the map. Vikram, This is really a serious matter. If you may remember, a couple of years ago even the BBC made such a mistake, and our politicians were prompt enough to make a big hue and cry about that. I hope they are not mum this time too on this sensitive issue. VSNL should act swiftly, and withdraw the ads. Else, it will create a lot of problems for the organisation, which already has a bad reputation in various forms. raja
