Fighting for India from our homes

3rd June 1999      Aseem Asthana @bom4.vsnl.net.in

Hello everybody,

The Indian Army has been bravely countering the attacks of the Pakistanis
in Kargil. They are doing a great service to the nation. It is time that
we too do something, anything that is in our hands to support our nation.
And in these times of electronic communication it is simple enough to do
so. And very important. Important because if our view point is not sent
across to the people the world over the Pakistanis view will. This is
information war.

I have been visiting various Indian and Pakistani usenet groups and seeing
what is going on there. When ever I found any statement to the detriment
of India I countered it with a reply. But I can not keep track of all the
Indian threads. The Pakistanis are obsessed with India. (Their identity
seems to be based on India. They think of India more that they do of
Pakistan. ) So we should make it an attempt to counter these anti India
messages on usenet. And volumes will certainly help.

I have also written to the BBC about what is the Indian side of the story.
Again volumes will help. They might start thinking a little more
pro-India. Letters to the editors of foreign newspapers will help put
across the Indian view point to them. We might even start monitoring Pak
newspapers on the web to see what vilification they indulge in and think
of some means of countering it.

For starters here are some results of a little research I did on the web
today.

And if you agree with me do forward this email to your friends.
